2011 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships
Wichita, Kansas
July 26-31, 2011
Carolina Allstars completed the season with several All-American performances at the USATF
Junior Olympic National Championships in Wichita, Kansas.
This year was the best year for the Allstars as a record number, 12 athletes qualified for the
nationals in 14 individual events. Qualifiers include: Jamaree Murray, David Hamilton, Jalen
Ware, Jakiiah Campbell, Amara Bell, Rueben Malone, Pierce Holloway, Clay Jones, Brian
Davis, Ethan Mitchell, Jade Williams and Omarion Hampton.
Jamaree Murray achieved All-American honors finishing third in the intermediate boys 400m
dash. David Keith Hamilton Jr. was fifth in the youth boys 400m dash. Jakiiah Campbell was
eight in the bantam girl’s long jump. Jalen Ware was fifth in the intermediate boy’s high jump.
Amara Bell was fourth in the intermediate girl’s high jump.
The medal count for the USATF State Championship also increased by 26 medals; including
eight state championship titles Amara Bell, Pierce Holloway, Rueben Malone, Jaylon Holt,
Jakiiah Campbell (2), Omarion Hampton, and Clay Jones were all winners. Eight athletes
earned medals at the regional championship which included gold winners Jamaree Murray
and Pierce Holloway.
The Allstar team records board was updated more than 40 times with new performances in 29
events.
The Allstar Awards celebration was also a fantastic event. The Athlete of the Year award was
awarded to Jamaree Murray; he finished the season with 71 MVP points. For the girl’s was
Jakiiah Campbell, she finished the season with a total of 43 MVP points. The Edward Towns
Coaches Award was awarded to Richard Edwards and Takira Coleman. The Most Improved
Award was awarded to Noah Bunn and Amara Bell. This year’s new award category for “Best
Newcomer” was awarded to Omarion Hampton and Jade Williams.
Congratulations all of the participants for the 2011 season. We look forward to seeing you in
2012.
