Carolina Allstars at NC USATF State Association Championship

June 23-26, 2011

The Carolina Allstar team of Fuquay-Varina is competing at the North Carolina USA Track &
Field State Association Championships this weekend. The state championships brings more
than 2000 youth from all over North Carolina to compete on one field. The top five performers
in each event and age group will advance to the Region III Championship to be held in
Georgia next month. There are six age groups: sub-bantam (7-8), bantam (9-10), midget (11-
12), youth (13-14), intermediate (15-16), and young men/women (17-18).

Allstars advance 22 to Region III Championship
More than 2000 athletes competed in the USATF State Championship in Durham, NC.
Athletes who finished in the top five of each respective age group and event will move on to
the Regional Championship in Georgia to begin July 7-10, 2011. Region III consists of athletes
from NC, SC, VA, DC, MD and GA.

The Allstar Track & Field team has qualified 22 athletes in 33 individual events plus one relay.

On the final day of competition Jakiiah Campbell secured her victory in the bantam girls 100
meters. Campbell finished with a very fast time of 14.33 seconds. Less than an hour later she
finished second the bantam girls 400m dash with an Allstar team record time of 1 minute 5.68
seconds. She also advances in the long jump after winning with a leap of 13 feet 8.75 inches.

Omarion Hampton will advance in three events. Hampton finished second in both the 100 and
200 meter dash. His times were 15.25 seconds and 32.02 respectively. His 200 meter
preliminary time of 31.76 sets a new Allstar team record. On Friday, Hampton also qualified by
winning the sub-bantam boys long jump.

Brian Williams qualifies in three events. He finished fourth in the bantam boys 100 meters
while capturing silver medal in both the 400 and 200 meters. Williams broke the Allstar team
record in the 200 meters with a time of 28.60 seconds.

Also qualifying in three events is David Hamilton Jr. Hamilton finished fourth in the 800 meter
run. On the final day of competition he finished third in the 400 meter dash with a time of
53.49 seconds and third in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet 6.75 inches.

Jamaree Murray will advance after finishing second in the intermediate boys 400 and fourth in
the 200 meters. His times were 49.33 seconds and 22.92 seconds.

William Holloway advances with gold medal performance in the 2000 meter steeplechase with
a time of 7 minutes 28.52 seconds. Jalen Ware finished second in the intermediate boys high
jump, jumping 6 feet.

Ethan Mitchell and his younger brother Roman both advance in the javelin. Ethan’s bronze
medal throw of 139 feet 6 inches is a new Allstar team record. Roman was third with a throw of
98 feet 8 inches. Marshal Sawyer was fourth in the intermediate boys’ discus after throwing
119 feet 1 inch.

Brian Davis takes silver in the young men’s 400 meter dash with a new Allstar team record
time of 49.38. Clay Jones added his second event by finishing second in the 1500 meter run.
His effort was an Allstar record time of 4 minutes 15.15 seconds. Jones also won the 800
meters on Friday of the championships.

Imani Vinson completed her quest to advance in the sub-bantam girls 100 meters. Vinson
finished third with a time of 16.75 seconds.

Amara Bell won the intermediate girls high jump. She takes the gold with a jump of 5 feet 2.50
inches.

Jade Williams finished second in the sub-bantam girls long jump. Jaslyn Davis finished fourth
in the youth girls discus, throwing eighty feet seven inches. Richard Edwards finished second
in the bantam boys long jump. His jump was 12 feet 7.25 inches. Jake Repar grabbed the last
qualifying spot, finishing fifth in the 400 meter hurdles. Isaiah Sowell is on his way to the
Regional Championship after his fourth place finish in the sub-bantam boys’ long jump.

Rueben Malone and Jaylon Holt both advance in the young men’s triple jump. Holt also
qualified in the high jump.

The intermediate boys’ 4x400 meter relay qualifies with a time of 3 minute 33.06 seconds. The
relay members were. Pierce Holloway, Jamaree Murray, Robert Williams and Jalen Ware.

Maxine Wydrznski set a new Allstar and personal record in the midget girls 1500m with a time
of 6 minutes 57.63 seconds. Brittany Williams breaks her own Allstar record in the youth girls
400 meters. She finished sixth with a time of 1 minute 2.48 seconds. Makayla Hunter sets new
Allstar record in the youth girls shot put with a toss of 33 feet 2.50 inches. Jhane Davis sets
new Allstars record in the young womens 100 meters with a time of 12.64 seconds.
