In 1994, he won the NCAA Indoor Championship in the triple jump; in 1995 he won the NCAA Indoor & Outdoor
Championship. His contributions to track & field helped his team to win two Indoor National Championships 1992,
1995; and 4 Outdoor National Championships 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.
In 2004, Coleman returned to his home town of Fuquay-Varina to establish the Carolina Allstars Youth Track & Field
Team. The team serves youth ages 7-18 in Fuquay-Varina and surrounding areas. “This team is what I am most
proud of, because it gives young people an opportunity to use their individual talents to improve their life on and off
the track”, says Coleman.
He is currently the jump coach for NC State University in Raleigh, NC where he is passing on his knowledge and
expertise in jumping events. In his short time at NC State Coleman has coached several athletes to win ACC
Championship titles and become NCAA All-Americans.
The Hall of Fame induction will take place during the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Charlotte,
NC on May 27-29, 2010.

On May 26, 2010, Fuquay-Varina native Chris Coleman will be inducted into the
NCAA Hall of Fame. Coleman is being inducted for his accomplishments as a
collegiate athlete while attending St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North
Carolina.
Coleman was raised in Fuquay-Varina since the third grade and graduated from
Fuquay-Varina Senior High. While attending high school he was introduced to the
triple jump by Coach Edward Towns. During his freshmen year he was only able
to jump 39 feet 4 inches. In 1990, after a couple of years of dedication and hard
work, Coleman won the NC High School State Championship as a junior in the
triple jump. In 1991, Coleman's senior year, he won his second state
championship in the triple jump. His jump of 50 feet set a new high school record
which currently stands.
After graduating, he attended St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina
on a full track & field scholarship. He continued his success in college by winning
the CIAA Conference Championship in 1994 & 1995. He has received several
MVP awards for field events in the CIAA.
