Allstars: Bound for Omaha
Allstars Earn Four Silver, One Bronze
at Regional Championship

At the end of a sweltering four day competition capped off by thunderstorms, the Carolina Allstars
Track and Field Team are ready to book their tickets to the Midwest. On July 22-27, 2008,
Cameron Snellings, Latoya Wright, Jocelyn Keen and Robert Williams will travel to the USATF
National Junior Olympic Championship to be held in Omaha, Nebraska.

On day two of the competition Jocelyn Keen and Robert Williams competed in the 800 meter run
finishing second and third respectively. Jocelyn ran a personal best time of 2:22.11. Robert
Williams was a double qualifier in the 800 meter run and 400 meter dash. With a second place
finish he ran a personal best time of 57.39 in the 400 meters.

Cameron Snellings ran a time of 13.06 seconds in the preliminary rounds follow by a time of 13.04
seconds in the finals to secure his second place finish. He finished second in both rounds.

Latoya Wright placed second in the intermediate girls shot put. The competition was basically a tie
through two rounds and had to be decided by the third best throw. Latoya had a best throw of 36
feet 2 and 3/4 inches.

The Carolina Allstars  sent 13 athletes to Rock Hill, South Carolina to compete in the USATF
Region III Championship.
(Region III includes athletes from NC, SC, VA, GA, MD, and DC). The top five
athletes from each state participated at the Regional Championship. The top three athletes in the
Region advance to the National Championship. "
I feel that anyone who makes it this far is a winner.
It is a great accomplishment to say that you are the best in the state and the region," says Coach
Coleman.


Other Notable Performances:
Kiara Leslie just missed making the national team place fourth in the 200 meter hurdles. Also
finished sixth in the 100 meter hurdles. Setting new Allstars records in both events.

Rueben Malone finished ninth in the intermediate boys triple jump.

Alize Norris finished seventh in the midget girls high shot put..

Jake Repar made the finals in the intermediate boys 400m hurdles finishing seventh.
