| Williams Advances to 800m Final |
Thursday, June 26, 2008 After the third day of competition at the Youth Outdoor Championships
held in Charlotte, North Carolina, Robert Williams Jr. secured his spot in the 800 meter final. Robert
won his heat of the 800 meter with a time of 2:21.99. The fastest qualifying going into the finals is
2:17.38. He has a personal best time of 2:15.38 which gave him the win in the 800 meter run at the
state championship last week. On Friday Williams will compete in the 400 meter dash and the 800
meter final will be contested on Saturday, June 28, 2008.
Allstar teammate Jocelyn Keen just missed qualifying for the intermediate girls 800 meter. Finishing
with the ninth overall time of 2:28.57 she missed qualifying by one place. Keen was also a state
champion in the 800 meters at last week's championship.
Brittany Williams also competed in the midget girls 200 meter dash. She finished 23rd with a
personal best time of 29.77. "Those girls were really fast", says Williams. She will compete on
Friday in the 400 meter dash.
