Allstars Bring Home The Gold
"Medal Count"
Robert Williams, Jocelyn Keen, Kiara Leslie,and Latoya Wright,  all members of the Fuquay-Varina
based Carolina Allstars Track & Field Team, bring home the gold at the USATF State
Championships. The competition was held June 20-22, 2008 on the campus of North Carolina
Central University.

Robert Williams won the Midget Boys 800 meters with a personal record time of 2:15.70 breaking
his own record by more than nine seconds. Robert also finished second in the Midget Boys 400
meters with a personal best time of 57.91 seconds. Jocelyn Keen also captured gold in the
intermediate girls 800 meters. New Allstar Kiara Leslie had a victory in the youth girls high jump with
a clearance of 4' 6". She also finished fourth and fifth in the 100 and 200 meter hurdles. Latoya
Wright won the intermediate girls shot put with a throw of 34 feet 11 3/4 inches.

By placing in the top five places at the State Championship, the Allstars have earned a trip to
compete at the USATF Regionals on July 10-13 in Rock Hill South Carolina. The top three finishers
at the Region III Championship will advance to the National Championship in Omaha, Nebraska July
22-29, 2008

Joining the Allstars at the Region III Championship will be: Jaimie Brown and Rueben Malone in the
triple jump; Alize Norris in the shot put; Cameron Snellings in the 80 meter hurdles and high jump;
Desmond White in the 100 meters and High Jump; Jake Repar in the 400 meter hurdles; Aleshia
Harris in the discus throw;Jessica Harvey in the long jump; and Cheyna Elliott in the high jump

The Carolina Allstars Track & Field team is a Christian based, non-profit youth program started by
Fuquay-Varina native, Chris Coleman in 2004. The team has since then drawn youth ages 7-18
