Carolina Allstar "All-American" Spencer Dodds

Spencer Dodds, member of the Fuquay-Varina based Carolina Allstars Track & Field Team,
earned All-American honors in national competetion. Spencer finished eighth in the Bantam Boys
(ages 9-10) 1500 meter run after he ran a personal best time of 5:08.81 at USA Track & Field
National Junior Olympics.
"I am so proud of Spencer", says Coach Coleman. "It is an awesome accomplishment to be able
say that only seven people in the United States have run faster." He was able to improve his
personal best time and set a new Allstar record by lowering his time by eight seconds. Melissa
Dodds, distance coach for the Allstars and also Spencer's mother says, "That's awesome to see
him improve his time by eight seconds within one week of training."
The USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships is the largest and most visible
youth athlete developmental program in the world. The Junior Olympics feature the following age
divisions: Bantam (10 and under), Midget (11-12), Youth (13-14), Intermediate (15-16) and Young
Men/Women (17-18). Entry for this championship is based on athlete performances at preliminary,
Association, and Regional levels of the
2007 USATF Junior Olympic Program.
The Carolina Allstars Track & Field team is a Christian based, non-profit youth program started by
Fuquay-Varina native, Chris Coleman. The team has since then drawn youth ages 7-18 from
