Carolina Allstars:
Among the best in North Carolina
The Fuquay-Varina based Carolina Allstars track and field team
represented well at the USATF North Carolina State Championship on June
23 - 24. The Allstars were able to qualify 12 athletes for the USATF
Regional’s coming up in July by placing in the top five at the state
championship.

Nine year old Brittany Williams had the top performance of the weekend
by qualifying in three individual events. Brittany won the gold medal
in the 200 meter dash running a personal best time of 31.04 seconds.
She will also compete in the 100 meter and 400 meter dash.

Spencer Dodds picked up a pair of silver medals in the bantam boys 1500
meter and 800 meter run. Both races were very exciting as Spencer
sprinted the last 100 meters just narrowly missing the victory at the
line. Allstar newcomer, Jocelyn Keen received the silver medal in the
intermediate girls 800 meter run. Robert Williams won the silver medal
in the midget boys 800 meter run.

In the past the Carolina Allstars has been known for its great jumpers.
This weekend they were able to qualify five athletes in the jumping
events. Rueben Malone will advance to the regional championship by
placing second in the youth boy’s long jump and third in the youth boy’
s triple jump. Also competing in the youth boys long jump will be Bo
Kelley. Kelley will also compete in the youth boys 200m for his fourth
place finish. Ravon Bell will compete in the young men's triple jump
and long jump after finishing second and fourth respectively. Takira
Coleman and Jessica Harvey will also compete in the long jump.

The Allstar team of Chrajon Frederick, Jessica Harvey, Briana White and
Sh’lequea Judkins will compete in the youth girls 4x 100 meter relay.
The girls won silver medal at the state championship.

The USATF Region III encompasses teams from Maryland, DC, Virginia,
South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. The top three finishers at
Regional’s will move on to the national championship to be held in
Walnut, CA on July 24-29, 2007.
